Cleaning Your Picture Frames

October 30th, 2013 · No Comments

First, remove the frame from the place where it is situated, may it be from the wall or table. This exposes the entire frame to be cleaned, not allowing any spot to be missed. Then dust it frequently with a wet cloth or duster, and use a dry cloth to let it dry. Picture frame cleaners in Toronto are available to aid in the cleaning process, and make sure to use a rag to wipe in a circular movement. Not only for fast absorption of the cleaner, rags or cloths used in frame cleaning should be soft enough to not scratch the frame surfaces. If there are any small crevices in your frames, get any visible dirt or dust retained using canned air. Canned air is also useful in eliminating dust settling in hard to reach spaces that are unable to be removed by hand. Also remember to clean and dust the back portion of the frame. Some frames have back portions that have felt material, and felt is known to collect dust.
After tackling the basic frame cleaning process, here are additional tips that are note-worthy.
The frame’s back part can be taken off, and you can then push the glass to remove it and clean the area where the glass is attached to the frame. This method cleans not only the frame but also the whole glass plate. Use a cotton swab for those hard to reach places. It is recommended to not use paper towels since it can scratch the surface of your frames. It is also recommended to not spray the cleaner spot on the frame and glass because it may ruin what’s left of them.
